Bandai Namco Announces Soul Calibur 5 Will Be Delisted June 19

Bandai Namco has announced that Soul Calibur V–which launched for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012–will be delisted from both consoles’ online marketplaces on June 19.

The announcement was made via a single tweet from the official Soulcalibur Twitter account, which confirmed that SCV is “taking its final curtain call on the stage of history.” No official reason was given for the delisting.

The tweet also clarifies that both the “base game and all associated DLC will no longer be available for purchase,” while a post on Bandai Namco’s Japanese website confirms that the content will be available for download to those that purchased it before June 19.

Soul Calibur V is not the only entry in the franchise to be delisted within the past few years. Both Soul Calibur and Soul Calibur II’s Xbox 360 ports were removed from the Xbox marketplace last year, despite both of them being backwards-compatible via Xbox One.

The fifth entry in Bandai Namco’s weapon-based 3D fighting game took place years after the event of Soul Calibur IV, with its roster including descendants of established characters. The game also featured Ezio Auditore da Firenze from Assassin’s Creed 2 as a guest fighter, as well as Dampierre, an original character who had only appeared in the PSP-exclusive Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny prior to SCV.
