Avatar: James Cameron Shot Sequels Back-To-Back to Avoid ‘Stranger Things Effect’; Man Dies While Watching Film in India

James Cameron says he shot Avatar: The Way of Water and Avatar 3 back-to-back to avoid what he called the “Stranger Things effect.”

Speaking to EW, Cameron said Avatar’s actors, such as Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, was seven years old when cast as Tuk. She is now 13, while 18-year-old Jack Champion was 12 when cast as Spider. He doesn’t want the actors to look older than their characters in the upcoming sequels, so he already shot the third film and the first act of the fourth film.

“Otherwise, you get — and I love Stranger Things — but you get the Stranger Things effect where they’re supposed to still be in high school [but] they look like they’re 27,” Cameron says. “You know, I love the show. It’s okay, we’ll suspend disbelief. We like the characters, but, you know,” Cameron said.

Man dies from heart attack while watching Avatar: Way of Water in India

A man from Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh died of heart attack while watching Avatar: Way of Water. He was watching the film with his younger brother, and collapsed during the middle of the film.

According to media reports, doctors said he was already dead when brought to the hospital. Hindustan Times spoke to Dr. Sanjeev Gera from Fortis Hospital, Noida, about what could be the possible causes behind the incident.

“Because of stress, increase in blood pressure like what happened in this case, arteries of the heart could have ruptured and that can cause sudden cardiac arrest,” he said.

Dr. Pradeep Kumar D. added that the heart attack could have been triggered due to a plaque rupture in the coronaries. “These kinds of deaths do happen during exciting matches/emotional situations. The movie per se is unlikely to have caused the death,” he said.
