While many 2022 movies continue to be delayed to 2023, James Cameron has decided to stay put with the December release date for the much-awaited sequel to Avatar.
Following the success of the original movie, which released back in 2009, the famed director will release the first of his four planned sequels later this year, featuring breathtaking visuals revolving around the oceans of Pandora.
With the movie set to release in around 8 months, fans are wondering whether 20th Century Fox will soon unveil the first look at the movie soon. For the past few weeks, many rumors swirled around the teaser trailer releasing with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, when it opens on May 6.
Now 100000% sure the first #avatar 2 footage will be shown at #CinemaCon. What I can’t figure out is if it’s the trailer or 15 to 20 min of footage. Will know Wednesday.

However, industry insider and Collider Editor-in-Chief Steven Weintraub recently stated that the movie’s trailer might debut during the third day of CinemaCon 2022, as part of Disney’s long-awaited showcase.
Disney will be looking to reveal some tidbits about the studio’s biggest projects including the Obi-Wan Disney+ show, and Avatar 2 fits right at the top of the studio’s movie hierarchy for the year 2022.
Weintraub has also mentioned that the studio might do better when it comes to showing the movie, as he noted that CinemaCon 2022 might feature the first 15-20 minutes of footage, similar to the way Sony debuted the first 15 minutes of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
It will be interesting to see what Cameron has been cooking over the past decade for the first of his four ambitious sequels to his epic sci-fi movie, and fans can’t wait to see what he has in store for them.
