Armored Core 6: Fires Of Rubicon Gets Its First Gameplay Trailer, Out This August

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon has received its first gameplay trailer, with From Software finally locking in a release date of August 25.

We knew that Armored Core 6 was due out this year since its reveal at The Game Awards last year, and now the release date is only just under four months away. From Software has also offered us a look at how the game will actually play in a lean three-minute-long gameplay trailer. Everything we can see is obviously in-engine, and it’s looking very impressive, with colossal mechanical bosses to face off against–giving us a taste of what From Software has previously promised.

Lots of different mech builds are on display in the trailer, giving us a rough idea of the kind of customisation we can look forward to. Some of them have extra legs, others have continuous tracks like on tanks, and there are different weapons on display like laser swords too.

Over on the PlayStation Blog, game director Masaru Yamamura went into a bit more detail about the game, talking about the world of Rubicon itself. “It’s an intricate and multi-layered world, brimming with mega-structures and enormous underground facilities built by its former inhabitants. These structures cover a planetary surface wracked with extreme cold and contamination in the aftermath of the great disaster, and the player will be exploring these various environments as they proceed,” Yamamura shared.

Some details about combat features were also shared, like the Assault Boost, which allows you to switch between long-range gunfighting and close-range melee immediately, and a Stagger system, where if an Armored Core takes too many hits in short succession, it will be vulnerable for a short time.

Armored Core 6 is out August 25, and will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
