Apple to shift a major part of its iPhone production to India: Ming-Chi Kuo | Digit

The tech giant Apple, famous for its premium smartphone and accessories, announced last month that it would start producing the new iPhone series in India. After the announcement, the Foxconn unit in Chennai began assembling the iPhone 14 series smartphones for the domestic Indian market.

Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo RevealsSome Key Findings

The decision came after the current geo-political imbalance between the US and China. It is considered an effective strategy to diversify the production unit outside China. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has stated in his recent tweets how Apple plans to reduce its reliance on China. The company will likely partner with the Tata Group to establish its manufacturing units in the country. Apple was also reportedly asking its suppliers to move some of the AirPods and Beats headphone production to India for the first time. In addition, the company is planning to shift a percentage of MacBook production and assembling to Thailand.

Ming-Chi Kuo tweeted, “Apple’s global supply chain management strategy continues to change in response to the de-globalization trend, mainly to reduce the assembly business in China.” Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed four significant findings from a recent supply chain survey in this tweet, providing the Cupertino-tech giant’s supply chain management strategy in response to the current de-globalization trend.
