Apple may launch a charger that can fast-charge two iPhones – Times of India

When it comes to fast charging smartphones, Apple is way behind the competition. While the likes of OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Oppo offer chargers with 80W — or more — capacity, Apple’s charging adapter is still at 20W. However, a report by 9to5Mac reveals that Apple may be working on a 35W charger. Not just that but it could be a dual Type-C wall adapter, which means users will be able to charge two iPhones at a time.

The report, citing a support document that was published on Apple’s website, states that this would be the first time Apple has given an indication about working on a dual charger. The support document was quickly deleted by Apple, so it’s not clear whether the charger would launch soon or if Apple will ever release it or not. Before the document was removed, it did reveal a few details about the charger. The document noted the functionality and features of the USB-C adapter and revealed, “Use the Apple 35W Dual USB-C Port Power Adapter and a USB-C cable (not included) to charge your device. Connect a USB-C cable to either port on the power adapter, extend the electrical prongs (if necessary), then plug the power adapter firmly into the power outlet. Ensure the power outlet is easily accessible for disconnecting. Connect the other end of the cable to your device.”

If — and when — Apple does launch the 35W dual Type-C charger it would mark the fastest charging capacity for the iPhone. Currently, the iPhone 13 Pro Max supports up to 27W of charging. If the charger does launch then it would help users fast charge iPhones, or charge two iPhones at a time, or even charge the Apple Watch and iPhone simultaneously. There was no mention of a cable in the support document, which means that users will have to buy the cable separately if the charger is launched.

Congratulations!

There have been reports in the past that have mentioned that Apple could be working on GaN (gallium nitride) chargers, which are faster and smaller in size.
