At today’s Peek Performance event, Apple is expected to announce a host of new devices including the third-generation Apple iPhone SE, new MacBooks and iPad Air 5. While Apple is expected to retain the design of the iPhone SE 3 similar to the ongoing model along with the display size, it is expected to be powered by Apple’s latest silicon — A15 Bionic.
The latest news that has surfaced online suggests that Apple might do something similar with the iPad Air 5 as well. Now, the ongoing model is powered by the Apple A13 Bionic chipset, it appears that Apple might give the iPad Air 5 a major performance boost.
The report reveals that Apple might launch the iPad Air 5 with the M1 chip, the same as the ongoing iPad Pro models. If that’s true, the mid-range Apple iPad 5 will offer similar peak performance as the Pros and it will certainly outperform all the other tablets available in the market.
In terms of performance, the Apple M1 chipset also offers a significant performance boost over the A15 Bionic which powers the current-generation Apple iPhone 13 series smartphones.
However, it is not clear whether the iPad Air 5 will feature the same 16GB RAM as the current-generation iPad Pro duo. It is likely that Apple might offer slightly less RAM in the upcoming iPad Air.
Apple will announce the new iPad today at its Peek Performance event scheduled for 11:30 pm. The event will be online-only and will be live streamed on Apple’s official website and YouTube. If you are wondering where to watch the live stream, click here.
