With the next Apple event — WWDC 2022 — less than two months away, anticipation around what the company may launch is a bit high. While WWDC is generally a ‘software’ event and not a hardware event, Apple has the habit of springing a surprise or two. Like at WWDC 2019, Apple launched a Mac display. This time around, as per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple may have a couple of Mac devices up its sleeve.
In his weekly newsletter, Gurman mentions that “Apple is gearing up to launch some new Macs in the next few months.” Gurman has a good track record when it comes to Apple-related news. And in the newsletter, he speculates that the WWDC might just be the place to launch the new Mac as it was WWDC 2020 where Apple announced that it will move from Intel chips to its own. Since then Apple has expanded its lineup of M1 processors that are now found in MacBook, iMac, Mac mini and even the iPad Pro and iPad Air.
As far as the new Macs are considered, German says that there are two new Macs coming around the middle of the year or early in the second half. One of those, according to Gurman, is likely to be the new MacBook Air.
There has been a lot of speculation around the new MacBook Air. Apple is reportedly set to give the MacBook Air a design overhaul and even add new colours to it. It is rumoured that Apple will give the MacBook Air a new processor as well. It remains to be seen whether it will be an updated M1 processor or will it be one of the existing processors. WWDC 2022 is slated to begin on June 6 and will end on June 10. Apple will unveil the latest versions of all its software — iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, macOS and tvOS.
