Aparshakti Khurana: I do see myself taking more playback singing opportunities

Actor Aparshakti Khurana is working on expanding his musical horizons, but is certain to not let that come at the cost of his acting career.

He is glad that it is possible today with the “music industry becoming very welcoming of newer people, skill sets and originality”.

“Honestly, I am still very new to music…I am only three songs old. And the love I have received for all three of the songs has been overwhelming to say the least,” Khurana tells us, adding, “I do see myself taking more playback singing opportunities in the future but while having a dedicated acting career, which is something I am the most passionate about”.

In fact, he has a perfect idea blending both. “Who knows, maybe one day a filmmaker might want to consider me as the face of a project where the protagonist is a musician. I love the idea of it,” he says.

As a playback singer, the year has brought in some great music for Khurana, with the success of his songs Balle Ni Balle and Choti Choti Gal — and two more tracks in the pipeline.

Opening up about his love for music, the father of one confesses, “I love singing and enjoy music as much as I move along and watch films. I like to jam with my musician friends in my spare time, catching up on the latest playlists etc. Getting the opportunity to work in such a varied line-up of entertainment properties like web-shows, movies and music videos, where I even get to sing, is a blessing for someone who just enjoys performing and entertaining people”.

Here, the Helmet (2021) actor lauds the changing tides of the industry, opening more avenues for the artists.

“The music industry today is very welcoming of newer people, skillsets and originality. Today, there are lesser restrictions and musicians are given the freedom to do their own thing. A major credit for the same also goes to the audience of today which is open to different genres of music. It’s only because of them that we have independent musicians today who have made a mark in the industry. We have come a long way and I am sure there’s a long way to go from here,” says the 34-year-old, who is working on acting projects such as Dhokha: Around D Corner,Berlin and Jubilee.
