AP source: Garoppolo to join Raiders

HENDERSON, Nev. — Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has agreed to a three-year, $67.5 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Monday.

The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the deal can’t be announced until Wednesday.

Garoppolo’s contract includes $34 million in the guaranteed money, the person said.

Garoppolo played for the San Francisco 49ers the past six seasons. He took the Niners to the Super Bowl in the 2019 season.

Before that, he played for the New England Patriots for three years under then-offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, now the Raiders’ head coach.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The Baltimore Ravens released veteran defensive end Calais Campbell on Monday.

The 36-year-old Campbell announced last month he was coming back for a 16th NFL season. He played the past three seasons for the Ravens, and he signed a two-year deal with them before last season.

“While this is the worst part of the business, we have not closed the door on the possibility of him returning to our team in the future,” Baltimore general manager Eric DeCosta said.

The Ravens have needed to deal with salary cap issues prior to the start of free agency. They put the $32.4 million franchise tag on star quarterback Lamar Jackson earlier this month.

BEARS: The Chicago Bears made two big additions at linebacker, agreeing to contracts with Buffalo Bills two-time Pro Bowler Tremaine Edmunds and former Philadelphia Eagle T.J. Edwards, two people familiar with the situations said Monday. Edmunds’ deal is worth $72 million over four years with $50 million guaranteed. Edwards is due $19.5 million over three years, with $12 million guaranteed.

EAGLES: Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce tweeted on Monday that he would return for a 13th NFL season. Kelce has long been the heart of the Eagles and one of the top centers in the league. Kelce was a free agent and can’t officially sign with the Eagles until Wednesday.

DOLPHINS: A person familiar with the deal said the Miami Dolphins are signing former New York Jets quarterback Mike White to a two-year contract to back up starter Tua Tagovailoa. The person spoke to The Associated Press on Monday on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced yet.

CHIEFS: Jawaan Taylor has agreed to an $80 million, four-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs to replace Orlando Brown Jr. as the blindside protector for Patrick Mahomes, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press.

PATRIOTS: A person with knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press on Monday that free agent cornerback Jonathan Jones intends to sign a new, two-year contract. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because new deals can’t officially be signed until Wednesday.

LIONS: The Detroit Lions have addressed a pressing need in free agency by adding standout cornerback Cameron Sutton to bolster a lackluster defense. The Lions and Sutton agreed to a three-year contract worth $33 million with $22.5 million guaranteed, agent David Canter told The Associated Press on Monday.

49ERS: The San Francisco 49ers made a big addition to their stellar defense, agreeing to a four-year, $84 million contract with star defensive tackle Javon Hargrave. A person familiar with the deal said the sides reached agreement on the first day teams were allowed to negotiate with free agents from other teams.

STEELERS: The Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed on a two-year contract with eight-time Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal can’t be announced until Wednesday.

BROWNS: A person familiar with the situation says the Cleveland Browns have restructured quarterback Deshaun Watson’s $230 million contract to create salary-cap space ahead of NFL free agency. The Browns always have had the ability to convert Watson’s base salary into a signing bonus and create $36 million of room, according to the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team is not publicly disclosing any information.

JETS: A person with knowledge of the deal says the New York Jets are re-signing kicker Greg Zuerlein. Zuerlein won a training camp competition last summer with Eddy Pineiro and had a solid first season with the Jets, including kicking a franchise-record 60-yard field goal.
