The all-business-class airline La Compagnie on April 15 will launch service between Newark Liberty International Airport and Milan Malpensa Airport, the carrier announced Tuesday. Flights are available immediately for sale.
“We are eager to attract both business and leisure travelers with this new route,” La Compagnie CEO Christian Vernet said in a statement.
Before the Covid-19 outbreak, the company’s business mix was 60 percent leisure and 40 percent corporate, Vernet told BTN, adding that the ratio clearly shifted toward leisure during the pandemic. But the company is beginning to see its corporate segment increase again, especially with bookings from the small- and midmarket, and as companies return to the office, he said.
La Compagnie will operate the route five days a week to start, departing Newark Thursday through Monday, with an eventual goal of a daily flight. It will use an Airbus A321neo aircraft configured with 76 flat beds. Amenity kits will include Comfort Zone products from Italian brand Davines. The flights also will feature an Italian-infused food-and-beverage program curated by Michelin-starred chefs from Italy and wine pairings from Italian organic wineries, according to the carrier.
The company, which launched in 2014, also offers year-round daily flights between Newark and Paris-Orly, and seasonal flights between Newark and Nice, France. Round-trip tickets start at $2,200 with free changes and refunds available up to 24 hours before departure, according to La Compagnie. Tickets also come with lounge and priority access.
