After Shutting Down Hyper Scape, Ubisoft Reportedly Working on a New Battle Royale Game

Popular video game publishers Ubisoft might be looking towards building another Battle Royale title following the lackluster performance of its previous attempt in Hyper Scape.

According to industry insider Tom Henderson, the company’s currently developing a new title codenamed “Pathfinder.” The project will soon replace Hyper Scape, as the game’s servers will be shut down later this month on April 28.

Ubisoft had huge aspirations with Hyper Scape as it aimed to compete with the heavyweights of the genre in Activision’s Call of Duty: Warzone and Epic Games’ Fortnite. However, the fast-paced, vertical gameplay of Ubisoft Montreal’s Hyper Scape never managed to attract the hype that the other titles have had, and in the end, the lack of players in the game’s community, forced the developers to shut down its servers.

However, according to Henderson, things will be a bit different with Pathfinder, as Ubisoft makes an another attempt at grabbing a piece of the lucrative video game genre. Reports suggest that Pathfinder will have four player squads dropping on a map, where they will have multiple paths that will lead to the center in order to face an AI boss. However, each game will unlock and lock different paths to the center, which will force players to use different strategies.

The players in Pathfinder are called “Heroes,” who will have different set of abilities, and they level up, when they defeat AI enemies as they move towards the center. To make matters more challenging, the AI will become considerably tougher as players walk towards the center, which makes for an exciting concept.

The game’s still early in development, and it will be a while before Ubisoft announce and unveil Pathfinder to the public.
