After DU, JNU students too want classes suspended – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Following the suspension of classes by Delhi University and IP University, students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) have also started making similar demands due to the pandemic situation in Delhi. In a letter to the ministry of education and JNU administration, the students claimed that many of them are not in the right state of mind to attend regular classes.

In their request to the administration, students stated that in light of the recent decision by various universities to suspend classes and examinations, “We have written to JNU administration to immediately suspend classes, postpone exams and convene academic council and board of studies meeting with student representatives to take any further decision regarding the evaluation processes.”

The students also want an extension of the on-going semester, with a semester break, to make up for the academic loss and deal with the pandemic.

Over 140 students of the school of law and others attended an online meet on Thursday and demanded that “all students be promoted to the next semester unconditionally.” The students said that DU has been expanding this provision to the students already, “so why this insensitive approach by the JNU vice-chancellor?”

Despite attempts, JNU administration did not respond to queries on the issue.
