Aditi Rao Hydari isn’t one to shy away from owning up to her professional choices. The actor has built a body of work across languages like Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam, in a career spanning move than a decade. So, there are bound t be times when things didn’t work out as well as she would have expected.
“I can say confidently that I have made many mistakes, 100 percent. Sometimes, when a film comes out, it isn’t what you imagined it to be…. When you are young and you have just entered the industry, and when you are not from the industry, you obviously stumble finding your way,” Hydari shares.
However, she is quick to add that she doesn’t “necessarily look at it as a mistake”. She explains, “From my end, I had the best intentions in doing that. What turns out is not in my hands, it’s a team effort. I am a part of what it turns out to be, but I solely can’t be responsible for it.”
And that’s why the Delhi 6 (2009) actor doesn’t have any regrets as far as her filmography is concerned.
“I don;t regret any of my choices. We have only one thing in control, and that is intention. I love cinema, I find it magical, and am grateful to be a part of this world. Not everybody gets to do that. My intention is to be a part of real cinema, and good stories, to make home in your heart,” says the 35-year-old, who was recently seen in Hey Sinamika.
Hydari says she follows this to date, that she looks at the positive in anything complicated and problematic. Did the actor always have this clarity, or is it something she learnt on the job?
She replies, “Subconsciously you have a dream, a wish list of how you want to work. I was not always crystal clear, it happened through experiences. Especially for somebody like me, I am a very instinctive person. I completely go by my instinct. I get in various situations and I learn along the way.”
What bothers Hydari is people who don’t take pride in what they do, “Who don’t excel in that, when I see someone not doing their best, whatever it is. No job is small. It’s a very naïve way of looking at it, but I love it.”
