Genshin Impact’s latest update has not only added some exciting events and minigames for players, but there are some new world quests players can complete as well. Unlike the An Invitation From Afar Quest which is automatically accepted as part of the Secret Summer Paradise Event, the Capturing Light and Shadow event is hidden in the Veluriyam Mirage, the newly added area which players unlock as part of the event.
Before you can get started with the Capturing Light and Shadow quest, you need to make sure that you complete the An Invitation From Afar quest as it is a prerequisite for this quest. Once you have done that, you can refer to our guide below to learn how to get and complete the quest.
Starting The Quest
In order to get the quest, you need to head to the very end of the Veluriyam Mirage, towards the southwest corner of the area. While you can easily spot the area on the map, getting to is somewhat tricky. There are multiple ways to reach the area, but we recommend just heading southwest from the Silver Bottle Courtyard Waypoint and using the Choo-Choo cart to reach the area.
Once you reach the area, you will spot a Hydro Eidolon, and you have to follow it inside the cave, similar to what you did at the beginning of the An Invitation from Afar questline. The Hydro Eidolon will take you to another Choo-Choo cart, which you can hop on to reach a Streaming Projector, whose seal can be broken using the Hydro Eidolon. Head towards the east and use the Four-Leaf Sigil to continue forward. You will encounter another Hydro Eidolon which will be trapped.
Use your Hydro attack to extinguish the fire and free it. Start following the Hydro Eidolon, putting out the fire on the way to make way for it. When the Hydro Eidolon goes through a wall, use the Four-Leaf Sigil to proceed forward. Defeat the enemies in the area and use the cart to unlock the second Streaming Projector.
You will reach the Mural once again, and you can use the Clusterleaf of Cultivation and Auspicious Branch to get some more Four Leaf Sigils. Continue forward until you reach another Hydro Eidolon which will take you to three Hydro monuments. Activate the two monuments by using Hydro Elemental Skills and then interact with the Hydro Eidolon to unlock the third one.
Proceed further in the area to find three more monuments, and use the respective Element to activate them. Hop on the Choo-Choo cart to reach the mural once again and activate the third Streaming Projector. For the last Streaming Projector head east towards the track to find another Hydro Eidolon surrounded by enemies. Defeat them to save the Hydro Eidolon and unlock the last Streaming Projector.
Head back to the mural and interact with the Streaming Projector to get inside the Preprint minigame. The minigame is quite simple, all you need to do is collect all the mural fragments at the start, and then place them at the appropriate location. Once that’s done, you can come out of the Mural to complete the Capturing Light and Shadow quest and get a Luxurious Chest as a reward.
