Hyderabad-based Esports organisation, Velocity Gaming is the latest team to enter the upcoming Skyesports Masters as a franchise. Skyesports Masters will see a total of eight franchise teams from India, compete in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO). Velocity Gaming is the final franchise team that has been revealed. Earlier we saw Revenant Esports, Gods Reign, 7Sea Esports, Reckoning Esports, Marcos Gaming, Medal Esports, and Enigma Gaming joining the tournament.These teams are now in the run for a total prize pool of INR 2 crore.
Velocity Gaming is the final franchise team to join Skyesports Masters
According to the official press release, Velocity Gaming’s CS:GO roster for Skyesports Masters primarily includes players who qualified from the regional cafe qualifiers. Gaming squad RDX, who won the Kolkata cafe qualifier are now a part of Velocity Gaming’s roster.
Keven “KevinR” Ross Russel is heading the 7 member CS:GO roster for the upcoming tournament. According to the official press release that was shared with IGN India, KevinR is a “veteran U.S. import who has been competing
professionally since 2004 and has numerous international accolades to his name.”
Commenting on the announcement of Velocity Gaming as the final franchise to join Skyesports Masters, Shiva Nandy, Founder and CEO, Skyesports, said,
“Velocity Gaming is a name synonymous with PC esports in India. It’d be an injustice to organize India’s biggest gaming tournament without the organization. I am thrilled that Manoj and Velocity believe in our vision for the Skyesports Masters and Counter-Strike. Their involvement is a testament to the potential and longevity of the league.”
The Skyesports Masters is now set to happen in two stages. The Masters League Stage will kick off on July 8th, 2023, and will continue till August 17, 2023. The top four teams advancing to the Masters Playoffs will be revealed at the end of this League Stage. The Masters Playoffs on the other hand is scheduled for August 26 and 27, as a LAN event in Mumbai.
