Being able to witness the work of ultra-dedicated fans with talent and skill (and too much time on their hands) is one of the blessings of the modern internet age, and such is the case with the recent discovery that a Reddit user, u/TB_Mumpitz, plans to fuse together all 151 generation 1 Pokemon (meaning Pokemon from Red, Blue, and Yellow) to create what will no doubt be a monstrosity.
u/TB_Mumpitz isn’t attempting some sort of holistic illustration where the Pokemon are all fused together at once, but is instead fusing them by more crudely attaching together their body parts (sometimes their whole body if the Pokemon is small enough). The plan is to add a new Pokemon one day at a time until they fuse all 151.
There are only twenty Pokemon fused so far and the thing already looks hilariously over the top. It’s difficult to imagine how 130 more Pokemon will be added to it. Presumably, it will eventually triple or quadruple in size as that seems to be the only feasible way to keep on adding so many parts.
The particularly cool thing about this self-imposed challenge is that TB_Mumpitz isn’t doing it alone. As seen in their most recent post, and in the ones before it, TB_Mumpitz decides the next addition by selecting the comment request with the most upvotes. On day 19, a user wanted the fins on Gyrados’ face to be replaced with Zapdos’ wings, and that’s exactly what TB_Mumpitz did on day 20.
Currently, as seen above, the creature looks rather like a mutated dinosaur with Machamp arms for legs, Onix’s tail, Gyrados’ neck and head, and a tower-like hump composed of various orb-shaped Pokemon, among many other protrusions. It will be fun to see if the fused creature manages to retain this general shape or if it is forced to become something completely different.
Currently, the top comment requests Gyrados’ whiskers be replaced by Alakazam’s much more pronounced mustache. Small changes like this will likely become a necessity for this wild experiment to work, but that’s its own fun, as, once the project is complete, it will be like a challenge to figure out which Pokemon each body part represents.
