Dharmendra celebrates 51 years of Mera Gaon Mera Desh, says, ‘did own stunts and never used duplicate’. Watch

Dharmendra on Monday took a trip down memory lane. The veteran actor shared a throwback video as his film Mera Gaon Mera Desh completed 51 years since its release. Taking to Instagram, Dharmendra posted a clip comprising scenes from the film, and interviews of himself and his son, actor Bobby Deol, speaking about the film. The video started with Dharmendra speaking a line in the film. After that, the actor was also seen saying in an interview in Hindi, “I did many films with Vinod. Mera Gaon Mera Desh was a very big hit.” As he performed stunts in the film, Dharmendra also said in the background of the video, “I always did my own stunts, never used a duplicate.”

As the video continued, Dharmendra was seen lip-syncing to a song with Asha Parekh as they sat on a bench on the reality show Indian Idol 11 (2019). They were also seen smiling and laughing. Asha wore a white saree and matching blouse, while Dharmendra wore a grey shirt, a half jacket and a pair of trousers. In the clip, Bobby Deol also said in an old interview, “Mera Gaon Mera Desh, it is one of my favourite films of my dad.”

Sharing the clip, Dharmendra captioned the post, “Friends, with love (two hearts emoji). Some loving memories.” Reacting to the video, a fan wrote, “The most handsome actor to hit Indian screen ever.” Another person said, “Greetings to one of the most beautiful, lovely people in the world… our lovely Dharam Ji, hope to see you in real life; love and respect you, sir.” Several fans called it their ‘favourite movie’.

Mera Gaon Mera Desh (1971) is an action drama, directed by Raj Khosla and written by Akhtar Romani. The film starred Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Asha Parekh, Laxmi Chhaya, Jayant, and Asit Sen, among others.

Meanwhile, Dharmendra will next be seen in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Directed by Karan Johar, the film also features Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh.
