WhatsApp has had support for desktops and laptops with the help of WhatsApp Web, allowing users to access the messenger from outside their mobile phones. But as per a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp may soon add more devices to its list, which are going to be companion Android devices like a smartphone or a tablet.
As per the report, the new section was found in the WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.22.10.13 and is called “Register Device as Companion”. It means that to access your WhatsApp on some other secondary device, you would have to put it in the companion device list. WhatsApp’s “multi device 2.0” hinted at the same possibility last year, though at that time it was believed that the devices would most likely be Android tablets or Chromebooks. If the latest report is to be believed, WhatsApp may also allow smartphones to be added.
As per the report, in the WhatsApp Beta 2.22.10.13, “the “Register Device as Companion” will show up when you try to open WhatsApp on a secondary mobile device. In this case, you can also decide to link your WhatsApp account in order to use it on another device.”
You might need to point your main device to the secondary device display in order to link them by scanning the QR Code. After your WhatsApp account gets linked to the secondary device, you’ll be able to use WhatsApp on another phone. However, the time of the release of such a feature is still unknown.
