I strive to be myself, says young singer Ranvir Singh

Even when he was pursuing his engineering course, singer Ranvir Singh knew music was his true calling. Right after college, it was time to take the plunge. In his maiden song Subha Subha, he collaborated with B Praak. And now, he is back with B Praak and Jaani for his latest song Patthar Wargi. Released under T-Series label, it is a romantic number that features Tanmay Ssingh and Hina Khan.

Do you think there is a lot of competition in your profession?

It is quite tough to be yourself, but the more genuine you are the more people will like you; so, I strive to be myself. Yes, there is a lot of competition as a lot of young talent is coming up, but the good thing is that everyone has their own identity and style.

Have you received appreciation for your work?

Yes, I am receiving a lot of love and support, even on social media.

How was it to sing with B Praak?

It was a dream come true. B Praak is like a brother and mentor for me. Patthar Wargi is my second collaboration with him. My entry song was with B Praak, so it is always special to sing with him. I learn a lot from him.

What has been your biggest learning in this profession?

To stay humble, kind and grounded.

A dream project for you would be?

Well, singing is my passion, but in future I want to open a school for underprivileged children so that they can pursue their dreams without any hassles.

Has the pandemic changed your outlook in life?

Yes. It has made me grateful for everything and I have realised how fragile life can be.

Name two Punjabi dishes you like the most?

Rajma chawal, and sarson ka saag with makki ki roti and lassi.

Which is your favourite Punjabi film?

Qismat. The story, the acting, everything is worth appreciation.

Have you learnt something new during this lockdown period?

I have learnt some musical instruments, such as harmonium and keyboard. I have also learnt how to cook some continental dishes. This time has taught us all a lot.

Your favourite Punjabi songs?

Dholna by B Praak and Awaaz by Kamal Khan. There are many more.

One thing about Punjabis you like the most?

Punjabis are fun-loving and really happy souls.

Prominent places you would recommend to your fans for visiting in Punjab?

Chandigarh and Amritsar.

What is your fitness mantra?

Eat healthy, avoid junk food; regularly drink water and stay happy.
