Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) has also instructed to fast-track the process of compassionate appointment.
“The department has instructed that the process has to be fast tracked and we are ensuring all the information collected is verified and following the procedure,” Indore’s additional director of DHE, Dr Suresh Silawat told TOI.
The department will take required documents such as Covid-19 positive reports, hospital admission related documents, undertaking affidavit from the family members of those who tested positive and took treatment at home, he added.
Nineteen teaching and non-teaching staff of over 40 government colleges of Indore division lost Covid-19 battle out of the 292 who had tested positive for the virus.
According to the data sent to the higher education department, from 11 government colleges of Indore district, 176 tested positive, of which eight died.
Among the eight staffers, four were professors, two guest faculty members, three grade three and one grade four employee.
The administrative officer of Mata Jijabai Government PG Girls College which is the lead college Dr MD Somani, said information is being collected from all the government colleges of Indore district including- Govt Holkar Science College, Atal Bihari Bajpai Government Arts and Commerce College(GACC), New Science College, Government Law College, Mata Jijabai Govt Girls PG College (Old GDC), New GDC college, Government College Rau, Bherulal Patidar Government College, Sanwer Government College, Sanskrit College etc.
On the other hand, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) alone had 12 deaths due to Covid-19.
As per the spokesperson of DAVV, Dr Chandan Gupta 140 tested positive for Covid-19 till date.
Out of the 13 deaths, three were faculty members and nine employees.
The varsity has already set up a committee to begin the process of compassionate appointment.
900 staffers of Indore div colleges tested +ve
Amidst the pandemic, over 900 staffers of government and private higher educational institutions (HEIs) of Indore division tested positive.
Although, DHE didn’t ask for the data of the private colleges, as per the private college association, around 500 employees from 72 colleges tested positive.
