Instagram releases update with bulk delete options, new account control features | Digit

Instagram update features

The new update allows users to delete or archive all their content including posts, stories, IGTV videos and reels, as well as likes, comments, and story reactions in bulk. Furthermore, it also allows users to now search for their past comments, likes, story replies, etc and filter the same by date, with specific time ranges.

In addition to this, a second major feature that has been rolled out as part of the update allows users to search for recently deleted or archived content, and also view their search history, the links they’ve visited, the amount of time they spend on the platform daily on an average, as well as download all the aforementioned information.

To access the same, users must go to the ‘Your Activity’ section, which can be accessed by going to one’s profile and tapping the menu button in the upper right corner. 

The new update is Instagram’s second such major rollout this month, following its ‘Take a Break’ feature. The Take a Break feature allows an Instagram user to set reminders to take a break from scrolling through their feeds, the explore section, or reels for too long, so as to minimise any adverse effects caused by excessive screen time. It is optional and can be enabled/disabled at any point in time. It works in tandem with Instagram’s existing Daily Limit feature, which allows users to set a daily limit on how much time they want to spend on the app.

Instagram has been testing these features since the end of 2021, as part of its initiatives to ensure a higher degree of user information safety and privacy, as well as making the same more accessible to and giving users more control over them.
