Biggest gainers & losers of the day: Spandana hits upper circuit, Voda Idea zooms 14%

New Delhi: Domestic equity markets made a strong comeback on Wednesday as positivity over economic readings boosted morale. However, uncertainty over the impact of the Omicron variant kept investors anxious.

The 30-share pack Sensex soared 619.92 points or 1.09 per cent to close at 57,684.79. Its broader peer Nifty50 shed 183.70 points or 1.08 per cent to 17,166.90. The broader markets also ended higher.

“Markets managed to settle with the gain of over a per cent amid volatility, tracking favourable local cues. Participants reacted positively to the GDP numbers in early trade but the mixed trend across sectors and feeble global cues capped the movement thereafter,” said Ajit Mishra, VP – Research, Religare Broking.

In stock-specific moves, shares of Spandana Sphoorty hit the upper circuit after change in managerial mandate. Meanwhile, Vodafone Idea advanced 14 per cent on the back of positive news flow. However, saw the biggest fall ahead of investors’ meet.

Let’s have a look at the biggest movers and shakers of Wednesday’s session:

Fertilizer stocks: Shares of fertilizer manufacturers were on the radar of investors amid the shortage of supplies and a possible increase in subsidies by the government. Shares of Chambal Fertilizers and Chemicals gained 9 per cent to Rs 397.55 while NFL added 6 per cent to Rs 51.65.

MTAR Technologies: One of the latest debutants advanced 7 per cent to Rs 2,257.60 as the company is hosting investor/analysts meet with institutional investors between November 30 and December 1.

LOSERS
