Ever since Amazon launched Prime Day, retailers have been firing back with their own deals. Walmart surprised us this week with a previously unannounced sale featuring some of the best deals on electronics we’ve seen lately, including ones you won’t find at Amazon. Check out these deals on televisions, audio equipment, computers, and more.
The WIRED Gear team tests products year-round. We sorted through hundreds of thousands of deals by hand to make these picks. Crossed out products are out of stock or no longer discounted. Our Amazon Prime Day coverage page and our Prime Day Shopping Tips will help you avoid bad deals. You can also get a 1-year subscription to WIRED for $5 here.
TV and Home Deals
Face it—nobody seems to have a printer, but they’re always asking friends if they have one because they need to print something. We haven’t really moved away from the paper world. This color printer also copies, scans, and faxes over Wi-Fi, and it uses widely available Canon Inkjet ink that you can find on Amazon or any major electronics retailer.
Usually with TVs of this size, it’s “go big and go home with an empty checking account”, but you can give yourself the home theater you’ve always wanted deserved by upgrading to this 4K-resolution, big-screen smart TV. It comes with Google TV included, so you don’t need a separate streaming device to watch television over your internet connection. Capable of Dolby Vision and HDR, it also has Google Assistant baked in, so you can give it voice commands and leave the remote on the table.
TCL makes some of our favorite televisions. In fact, when somebody asks for a recommendation for best-value 4K TV, we point them right to this 55-inch QLED TCL. It comes with Roku, our favorite streaming service, built in. For the money, image quality is outstanding, and you won’t find anything better unless you spend three times as much.
I’ve used Sanus mounts for years, and this one has been a favorite because it’s easy to tilt upward or downward, side to side, or extend, yet it also feels solid. After all, you don’t want your precious TV to depend on a piece of flimsy metal to keep it from crashing down. You can extend the FLT1 up to 5 inches from the wall or push it nearly flat against it to save room, or tilt it to get a better viewing angle from wherever you’re sitting. It’ll work with nearly all TVs whose screens measure 32-70 inches and weigh 80 pounds of less.
This model has been our recommendation as the best air purifier for small rooms for years. Even after three years of daily use, the one I have is ticking along just as effectively as when it was new. It works for rooms up to 361 square feet, and it has an automatic mode that will ramp up or down to three power levels depending on the air quality in the room. On its lowest setting, it’s almost inaudible. Perfect for light sleepers in the bedroom.
Although the Max offers a larger screen and a built-in camera, the base-level Nest Hub is all the smart home hub you need. I’ve been using one daily for two years now, and it integrates easily with a Philips Hue, Wyze indoor security cameras, SimpliSafe home alarm, Google Calendar, Spotify, and more. Even in the other room, its microphone can pick up the sound of my voice reasonably accurately.
Get everyone in on the game. If you’ve been puttering around with only the one stock Joy-Con controller that came with your Nintendo Switch, pick up another official Nintendo Joy-Con so that you have a friend to beat in Super Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. The two halves can be detached from each other and used as two controllers in certain games, so for $64 you could be enjoying four-player free-for-alls.
Watch, Phone, and Mobile Deals
Apple Watches are a favorite around the WIRED office. We gave the recently released Series 8 an 8/10, WIRED Recommends for its easy ability to sync with mobile Apple devices, its automatic crash detection, fitness features, and low power mode that makes it last a whole weekend between charges.
For a cheap laptop (and not a Chromebook), you can hardly do better than this deal that comes with Windows 11 pre-installed. It offers a 3 GHz Intel i3 processor, 1080p display, USB-C port, 128GB solid state drive, and 4GB of memory, which is more than enough performance to use most non-video-editing office software, check email, and cruise the internet. There’s also a more powerful version for $279 ($290 off), which gets you an AMD Ryzen 7 processor, 512GB solid state drive, 8GB RAM, and 10 hours of battery life.
Even though the A-series of Galaxy tablets is billed as the economical choice, the A8 offers some impressive, non-economical features, such as a metal case and Dolby Atmos speakers. This model has an upgraded 128 GB of storage with a 10.5-inch display.
Relive the glory days of film photography with this instant-film, point-and-shoot camera from Fujifilm. It comes with a 10-pack of Instax film to get you started. Even in a world of digital cameras that can rattle off thousands of photographs without hesitation and smartphones that outshine the last decade’s high-end SLRs, there’s something timeless and spontaneous about a camera that spits out a physical photograph on demand.
Audio Deals
Regardless of the speakers that your laptop’s manufacturer brags about, they’re going to sound tinny and small. Although these wireless Bluetooth speakers and 6.5-inch 100W subwoofer are hardly audiophile-grade equipment, they’ll provide a significant sound quality upgrade for listening to music, watching movies, and playing video games.
We gave these a 9/10, WIRED Recommends thanks to their impressive active noise cancelation, sound quality, and IPX4 sweat resistance. They’ll last for six hours on a charge, and the included charging case offers another 24 hours.
We called the Polk Signa S4 the best soundbar/subwoofer combo in our guide to the Best Soundbars for Every Budget because it offers top-level Dolby Atmos sound for not a lot of money, and now it’s even less money. We also rated it a 7/10 for its room-filling bass and solid bass.
Even though our reviewer was skeptical when testing this speaker for his guide to the Best Bluetooth Speakers, he came away impressed because of its ability to make music sound good no matter where you placed it in a room. Even outdoors on a covered patio, its three upward-firing drivers spread music easily around to create a full listening experience.

Other stores have started offering competing deals that don’t require an Amazon Prime membership (and others likely will). Here’s a list of merchants that may be getting in on the action.
