10 Games To Play If You Love Sonic The Hedgehog

When it comes to iconic video game characters it doesn’t get much bigger than Sonic the Hedgehog. He’s been there since the start of console gaming and has a large fan base always awaiting his next game. But even more than that, Sonic has crossed over into other titles and created an entire line of genre games that’s probably rivaled only by Mario.

However, Mario is known as a different type of platformer than Sonic. The blue hedgehog is known for speed and recklessness as well as crazy and adrenaline-fueled adventures. Here’s a list of games that Sonic fans may enjoy.

10 Aaero

Aaero is much different than any other type of game on this list. It’s not a platformer. It’s not an adventure game. It’s just a rail shooter that uses a rhythm-based game mechanic to give the player a rounded, intense experience.

Sonic doesn’t necessarily use music to enhance its gameplay, but it is an intense game that moves quite quickly and forces players to get locked into a zone. Aaero does the same thing as the game doesn’t slow down just because the player wants it to.

9 Rocket League

Rocket League is another game that fans may not think of when Sonic the Hedgehog comes to mind. After all, Rocket League is a wild and crazy sports game that uses rocket-propelled cars to play soccer.

Cuphead is a platform experience that dumps a bucket of nostalgia onto its art style. That alone is enough to make games interesting, but it’s also incredibly difficult to master. There are many dizzying moments that are incredibly difficult to beat.

It is certainly possible to imagine a Sonic game that is stylized exactly like what Ori And The Blind Forest is like. Ori has a giant adventure world that the player has to explore in order to unlock new abilities and areas.

It wouldn’t be difficult to see Sonic doing something just like that as the Blue Blur spins along from level to level, stomping on enemies while also trying to save the day. Ori is beautiful both from a gameplay and artistic standpoint that fans should check out.

2 Super Meat Boy

Super Meat Boy is an indie game that tries to replicate the classic platforming experience from the early days of console gaming. It has a relatively low level of graphics that emulates games of the time.

It’s actually a nice combination of the Mario style of platforming with the Sonic style of speed and intensity. The game can be played at a very fast pace that often requires players to move recklessly while also being in control. Yuko’s Island Express might not be a well-known or hugely popular game, but it’s hard to think of one that embodies Sonic the Hedgehog more. It has a similar style to Ori And The Blind Forest as there is a large 2D landscape that the player needs to unlock.

However, the gameplay is less based around being a platformer and more of a pinball style similar to Sonic Spinball. The main character carries around a ball that it uses to traverse the levels at incredible speeds and with intense action.
