Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s huge fan expansion Second Wind got another update

Second Wind has a new boss fight, too

If you’re done with everything there is to see in Zelda: Breath of the Wild, there’s a new fan expansion called Second Wind that’s steadily getting updates: including this new one that adds a sidequest and a boss fight.

As a refresher, here’s a recap of the project:

Second Wind is a free, large-scale DLC for Breath of the Wild that features tons of new content including quests, weapons, NPCs and enemies. It overhauls existing content like shrines, adds new mechanics such as crafting and provides many quality of life enhancements to the base game. Visit new areas, take on great challenges and more in a project that has had over 50 people contributing to it!”

The new Second Wind content we’re talking about today is the “Labours of the Hero” questline, which actually unlocks automatically once you pick up the Hylian Shield from Hyrule Castle. You’ll acquire the quest from a monk, then be tasked with entering a new shrine near Champion’s Gate. It’s a very cool way to incorporate existing content as a DLC, especially for a fan creation.

Even if you never play it and have no interest in mods you can check out the gist in the new video for Second Wind below; which showcases the Hinox King and the Abandoned Mine area.
