YouTube has announced that content creators with just 500 subscribers can now access and make Community posts. Earlier, at least 1000 subscribers were required to get access to YouTube Community. But starting from October 12, 2021, any YouTube channel owner with just 500 subscribers will be eligible. Having said that, YouTube has mentioned in an official blog post that it may take up to 1 week to see the option to create Community posts after a channel passes 500 subscribers.
Also, there’s good news for those creators with even less than 500 subscribers. “For channels under 500 subscribers, we are working to bring Community posts to you in the future,” said YouTube.
One of the reasons for decreasing the subscriber count requirement is that YouTube is removing the Discussion tab for all channels on October 12, 2021. “Until October 12, 2021, you can still access the Discussion tab from the channel page on Desktop. If you don’t yet have access to Community posts you can use Comments on your videos to engage your viewers,” it added.
The new Community tab is designed to replace the Discussion tab, an older feature that lets creators post text updates to viewers. Community tab, which is available on mobile and provides more creative options for creators with support for images/GIFS, polls and videos.
“Over the past year, we’ve been working closely with creators to improve the Community posts experience by adding new features like posts metrics in YouTube Analytics, posts with multiple images on Android (iOS & Desktop coming soon) and post scheduling. We’re looking forward to even more creators being able to use these,” added YouTube.
