You can now view 3D monuments on Google Search – Times of India

Google announced plans to add augmented reality objects to Search at its I/O conference in 2019. Since then, the company has added several 3D elements such as animals, dinosaurs, space objects and others to the Search. Now, Google Search has silently added 3D monuments. This means that users can now see the monuments in augmented reality and also see the details that are hard to observe in a simple picture.
How to see a monument in 3D on Google Search
Searching for 3D monuments in Google Search is quite simple. When you search a monument’s name in the app. You can spot a ‘View in 3D’ option in the results. From that option, you can see a 3D rotating model that can be zoomed into. Although the model is not high-resolution, it still provides a better understanding than a regular image.
You can also place the 3D model of the monument in your environment if you have an Android smartphone with Android 7.0 or higher, or an iPhone/iPad with iOS 11 or higher. The ‘View in your space’ option uses your camera and allows you to see the 3D monument in your space. You can also take pictures and short videos of the model.
As of now, the View in 3D is only available for 98 monuments and no Indian monument is on the list. Google continuously adds 3D elements in the Search option and it is expected that more monuments will be added to the list soon.
Google recently also launched a global first Search feature in India that enables users to hear search results out loud. This feature is available in Hinglish (a conversational hybrid of Hindi and English) and five Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil.
