Wrath Of The Lich King Classic Release Date Potentially Leaked By Blizzard

Blizzard may have accidentally leaked the release date for their upcoming Wrath of the Lich King Classic expansion for World of Warcraft Classic.

Blizzard briefly updated the product page for the expansion with a line of text that reads “The Lich King Returns September 26, 2022.” After a short period, Blizzard then removed this line of text and the product page has now been reverted back to its previous state. The change can be seen in the screenshots below.

Before…
and after…

This is likely a mistake on Blizzard’s part and while not an official confirmation, it certainly seems the studio has plans to release Wrath of the Lich King Classic in September.

DUALSHOCKERS VIDEO OF THE DAY

Prior to this, Wrath of the Lich King Classic did not have a release date, though it was expected to launch sometime in late 2022. Blizzard has been keeping players abreast of the expansion’s development, just yesterday detailing how the Death Knight (DK) class was going to be integrated with the expansion.

A player will immediately be able to create a Death Knight on any realm free of restrictions (excepting fresh realms, see below). However, after your first Death Knight, regular restrictions will apply. You can only have one Death Knight per realm and you must already have an existing level-55 character on that realm to create one.

Blizzard will also be adding new features to World of Warcraft Classic to encourage new players to take up the game following the release of the latest expansion. There are plans to add dedicated “fresh realms” to Classic for 90 days after the expansion launch which are tailored to new players. Blizzard is doing this in an attempt to bring new players to Classic by giving them the “authentic” experience of a new expansion, which is starting from scratch with new players on launch day.

Players may be logging on to get that authentic experience sooner than we thought if Blizzard’s leaked release date of September 26 turns out to be true.
