Windows PC Health Check app is back in business and is now more functional – Times of India

Whether your PC supports Windows 11 is a question that is in the minds of millions of Windows users. Microsoft hasn’t Windows 11 system requirements are already confusing and the requirement of TPM 2.0 made things worse for people. To solve that confusion Microsoft created a tool — PC Health Check — that was supposed to run a check and tell users that if their system is compatible with Microsoft’s latest or not.
However, that turned out to be a disaster for both users as well as the company. The app simply told users that their current system isn’t compatible with Windows 11 without answering the million dollar question — why?. More so when in the case of TPM 2.0 or Secure Boot is missing.
That’s the reason Microsoft pulled the app from the store soon after releasing it in June. The company also confirmed that “it was not fully prepared to share the level of detail or accuracy you expected from us on why a Windows 10 PC doesn’t meet upgrade requirements.”
Microsoft PC Health Check app is now back in business and the company has updated it to offer better information and insight to users about why the current system isn’t compatible with Windows 11.
The app can be download from Windows 11 landing page (here).
Windows PC Health Check app runs a quick check of the system’s configuration and sees if they meet Windows 11’s minimum requirements. In case the system isn’t compatible, the app now tells users the reason why their system won’t be able to run Windows 11 which was missing from the earlier version of the app.
According to Microsoft, “the updated version expands the eligibility check functionality with more complete and improved messaging on eligibility and links to relevant support articles that include potential remediation steps”.
For those unaware, Microsoft has recently extended the processor support for Windows 11 to Intel Core X series, Xeon W series, Core 7820HQ processor and a few AMD Gen 1 processors.
As for the minimum requirements of Windows 11, the system should run at least dual-core processor running at 1GHz or higher along with 4GB RAM and support for both Secure Boot and Trusted Module Platform (TPM) 2.0.
