Want To Drink Oat Milk But Don’t Know How To Make It? Chef Saransh Goila Has The Answer

Oat milk has fast emerged as a popular choice among those with a preference for nutritious, creamy, and sweet-tasting but dairy-free milk. Besides, oat milk is rich in fibre and is high in vitamins as well. It is a great option if you are looking at adding fibre to your diet for healthy gut and digestive functions. Your gut health is critical to not just glowing skin but also preventing the thinning and whitening of your hair. And while non-dairy milk is becoming popular, many have started preparing it at home as well.

But if you don’t know how to make oat milk at home, don’t worry, for chef Saransh Goila has shared a small video on his Instagram handle to make your life easier.

To prepare what he calls “Coat milk”, at just Rs 70 per litre, you need to follow these simple steps. In his post, Goila writes that the oat milk that he prepared had no sliminess and was superbly creamy, containing lots of protein and good fat. The trick, he says, is to not soak the oats and blend them for too long because that would give you a slimy end product.

“Use chilled water so the temperature of the oats doesn’t go up while blending,” he wrote, adding that we soak cashews so that they blend faster and give us a superbly creamy end product. “Always shake and mix before you drink as cashew is dense and can collect at the bottom,” he said. He further writes that the oat milk he made without cashew was also fine but it can’t be compared with the one containing it. “I tried making coffee and hot chocolate with this it was DELISHAAAS. Will stay fresh in the fridge for 3/4 days,” he concluded.

Here’s how you can make oat milk at home:

In his video, Goila takes about 25 grams of soaked cashew nuts and blend them with a cup of raw rolled oats for 10 seconds. “Don’t blend too much,” he says and then suggests we add 1 litre of chilled water and blend again.

The next step is to strain the liquid from a muslin cloth. “Squeeze it properly” into a jar and your oat milk is ready. “Taste it, it’s delicious.

Now, if you want to sweeten it, add 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon powder, 2 teaspoon of stevia and 7-8 drops of vanilla,” Goila says.

Then stir it and your oat milk is ready. Make coffee, hot chocolate or any other drink with this milk, Goila says, adding “it should be called coat milk”.
