Tim Cook: This is the first Apple product that CEO Tim Cook used – Times of India

Most people do remember their first Apple purchase as it’s perhaps a memorable occasion. The cult of Apple amongst its fans ensures that, doesn’t it? But have you wondered what was the first Apple product that the company’s CEO Tim Cook used? In an interview with a Singapore-based radio station, Cook revealed that his first Apple product was the Apple II computer. Cook said that he was an undergraduate engineering student at the University of Auburn when he was working on a project and used the Apple II.
Cook further said that it wasn’t his own Apple II computer but he “fell in love with it” after using the machine. According to a report by 9to5Mac, Cook in the interview also spoke about the first product he worked on after joining Apple in 1998. Cook took a trip Singapore to validate the production line for the original translucent iMac.

Apple II: One of the most ‘popular’ Apple computers

For those who aren’t aware of the Apple II, it was the second computer that Apple co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak worked on. The Apple II was made available to the public in 1977 and was one of the flagship computers for Apple. It was only in 1984 when Macintosh was released that the Apple II took a back seat.
In terms of specs, Apple II had a MOS 6502 chip for its CPU. It had 4KB of RAM which would be extended up to 48KB. It had a BASIC interpreter and could also support graphics and a colour monitor. It didn’t have an external storage unit to begin with but Apple added an external floppy disk drive to it later.
