The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Sold Half a Million Physical Copies in France Alone as Overall Sales Hit 10 Million Mark

Since The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has released, the playerbase has been sharing their exploits in the game, making the title reach enormous levels of fame. In just a matter of three days, the latest Zelda title was able to cross the 10 million mark in copies sold. Which has also made it the “fastest selling game in the history of the Legend of Zelda series.”

Furthermore, according to a report by LeFigaro (via VGC), the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is doing wonders in the physical sales department too. In France alone, Nintendo has managed to sell half a million physical copies. FIFA 23 was the best-selling title in France in 2022, where it sold 1.7 million copies of the game, out of which only 420,000 were physical sales. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has managed to cross that mark within the first three days only.

That’s not all, as Nintendo Switch sales have also been benefitting from the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. In the United States, for the month of April 2023, The Nintendo Switch became the best-selling video game platform in terms of units, according to a report by Mat Piscatella from Circana. It still stands behind the PS5 in terms of dollar sales, however.

It’s not even been a whole week since the newest Zelda title has released, and the players are going crazy exploring Hyrule and using their imaginations to craft some of the wildest creations we have seen in a game. It would be interesting to see how The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom manages to perform throughout 2023 and what other records it manages to break in the process.
