The Last of Us Part I PC Release Riddled With Problems As Pirates Crack the Naughty Dog Title Within Hours of Launch

Following months of waiting, The Last of Us Part I finally dropped for PC on March 28, 2023. But the release couldn’t have gone worse for Naughty Dog.

Though the remastered version of the hit action-adventure title for the PlayStation 5 was met with praise when it launched last year, things have been wildly different around the PC variant of the game.

The Last of Us Part I release marred by performance issues

The launch for PC version of The Last of Us Part 1 has been disappointing for fans. Players are complaining about performance issues while playing the title.

On the Steam page of the game, TLOU Part I currently has “Mostly Negative” reviews with many of them pointing out the lack of optimization for the title. This lack of optimization is resulting in frequent crashes and stuttering.

The reviews express the disappointment that players have with the PC port. For some context, game studio Iron Galaxy has developed this port instead of Nixxes, the developer responsible for other PlayStation PC ports.

Naughty Dog responds to the issues

Naughty Dog has already acknowledged the problems faced by the community and the developers are investigating the issues.

TLOU Part I already cracked

In addition to the launch issues, reports have emerged about pirates already cracking the game. These pirates just took mere hours to crack the game instead of the days, weeks or even months that it takes for most modern AAA games. According to Denuvo Alerts on Twitter, the collective RUNE which features members from the popular piracy group, CODEX is responsible for cracking the game.

IGN India does not support piracy in any manner and gamers should support game developers for their hard work. Beyond the moral and ethical questions, cracked versions and people trying to pirate games (or even softwares) tend to become easy target for hackers trying to spread malicious software.
