The Telangana’s oldest university Osmania University got three VCs for various universities. D Ravinder Yadav, who has been working as principal of OU Arts College, appointed VC for his university i.e OU, while OU registrar Ch Gopal Reddy has been nominated to Mahatma Gandhi University at Nalgonda. Another teacher from OU D Ravinder Gupta posted to Telangana University at Nizamabad. A retired professor from OU Telugu Department, T Kishan Rao has been chosen for Potti Sriramulu Telugu University at Hyderabad.
The second biggest and oldest university Kakatiya university, Warangal also got the head of the university from the same institution. Professor of Sociology Thatikonda Ramesh has been chosen as VC for Kakatiya University. Another major university in Hyderabad JNTUH got a former vice chancellor Katta Narsimha Reddy as VC. He worked as head of Mahatma Gandhi University in the previous term. Similarly, Dr BR Ambedkar Open University former VC K Sitaram Rao has been re-nominated for the same post for the second time. He worked as VC between 2016 and 2019.
Nizam College principal Lakshmikanth Rathod appointed as VC for Palamuru University at Mahbubnagar, Telangana higher education council former vice chairman Prof Mallesham has been chosen for Satavahana University at Karimnagar and Kavitha Daryani appointed as VC of JN Architecture and Fine Arts University, Hyderabad.
Of the 10 universities, the government has ensured representation to all the major communities in the state. While two vice chancellors were picked from BC, two from Reddy, one each from SC (Mala), ST, Brahmin, Vysya, Velama and Sindhi communities. A formal GO on the appointment of VC is expected in a day or two.
