Ted Lasso and Richmond AFC Richmond Officially Announced for FIFA 23

FIFA 23 release date is coming closer by the day and players are just holding out their patience till September 30, 2022. We already know about all the fantastic new features and changes coming to the latest instalment to the iconic football simulation series. Career mode has been revamped, Ultimate Team has received some unbelievable changes and Pro Clubs and Volta have received their fair share too. This is EA’s last FIFA named title, from here on out all the next football simulation titles will be dubbed as EA Sports FC.

FIFA 23 has just made a big announcement, one that many player would not expect to appear in such a true to life game. After all the announcements being over for them, FIFA had one last team and manager to be announced for the ‘world’s game’. The latest addition to FIFA 23 is Apple TV’s very own Ted Lasso and his AFC Richmond Football Team. FIFA 23 will authentically integrate their home ground, Nelson Road and also the team’s squad Jamie Tartt, Dani Rojas, Sam Obisanya, Roy Kent, and Isaac McAdoo

Ted Lasso will be available as a playable manager in Career Mode and AFC Richmond can also be managed by swapping them into one of the playable leagues in the game. Players will be able to use AFC Richmond across other game modes too including Career Mode, such as Kick-Off, Online Friendlies and Online Seasons. The Greyhounds’ Nelson Road home stadium can also be chosen across all of these game modes. For FUT, players will be able to procure a series of customisation items including authentic kits and TIFOs from AFC Richmond and will also be able to select Ted Lasso or Coach Beard as their manager. Players will be able to acquire these items through objectives and challenges in FUT.

This may be the first time that a fictional team and manager are being added to FIFA and many players have been appreciating this move. Players already felt that this was going to be a possibility as Ted Lasso’s official account posted a tweet with an image of Jason Sudeikis getting scanned and put out the caption as “Look out, Mario! You’re not the only pixelated man with a mustache who never knows where the tube is taking him”. This made many feel that Ted might be getting added to FIFA 23.
