NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Friday.
Shares of Strides Pharma Science(up 3.63 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 2.95 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.07 per cent), Pfizer(up 0.52 per cent) and Abbott India(up 0.16 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Biocon(down 3.48 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 3.19 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(down 2.76 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(down 2.25 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 2.15 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.34 per cent down at 12600.15.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 252.7 points at 16245.35, while the BSE Sensex stood down 768.87 points at 54333.81.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 9 ended in the green, while 40 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, ITC, PNB and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Future Enterprises (DVR), SEL Manufact, Mangalam Global Ent, Sezal Glass and Bombay Metrics Supply Chain Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Laxmi Cotspin, Jubilant Food, Indigo Paints Ltd., Motherson Sumi and Star Health hit their fresh 52-week lows.
