Sputnik boosters for private hospitals in Pune by June 25: Dr Reddy’s – ET HealthWorld

Pune: Relief for Sputnik beneficiaries seeking a booster shot is finally in sight.

A spokesperson of Dr Reddy’s, which distributes Sputnik V in India, told TOI on Thursday that it expected the booster stock of the vaccine would be available in one or two major hospitals in various cities soon.

The spokesperson said, “By June 25, hospitals in Pune, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad will receive the booster stocks. By June 27, hospitals in Chennai, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru will also receive the booster stock. This will be followed by more cities and towns around the country. Sahyadri Hospital in Pune will also receive stocks by the end of June.”

Dr Madhav Chavan, managing director of Phoenix Hospital, said, “We have finished all the Sputnik dose 1 and 2 stock and are not ordering more. We have made repeated attempts to procure some stock for Sputnik boosters in the past few weeks, but didn’t get a response from the suppliers.”

Phoenix Hospital, New Life Child Care Clinic and Hospital and SM Joshi hospital were the only three sites in Pune that were administering Sputnik vaccine till recently.

Dr Rajesh Auti, vaccinator at SM Joshi Hospital, Khadki, said the hospital recently received confirmation from Dr Reddy’s about supplying 900 booster doses to it. “We have been trying to place orders for a while. We expect to get the doses soon,” Dr Auti said. “Nearly 1,700 beneficiaries had taken the first dose of Sputnik from our hospital. We expect more beneficiaries for the booster,” he added.

Many beneficiaries who used Sputnik as the primary vaccination are unable to travel abroad as they have still not been able to get the booster.
