Marvel’s Secret Invasion was a short, six-episode miniseries with the finale coming in at an even shorter 38-minute runtime. Nevertheless, the season finale certainly packed a punch, and we explain the ending and discuss if G’iah is now the strongest character in the MCU.

Secret Invasion Ending Explained

Secret Invasion episode 6, titled Home, begins with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) making his way to Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir) at New Skrullos in Russia, while Rhodey (Don Cheadle) (being impersonated by the Skrull Raava) is pushing for President Ritson (Dermot Mulroney) to launch a strike on New Skrullos as Gravik instructed, despite a military head advising against it.

As Fury enters the compound, it’s clear the radiation is getting to him, and he’s forced to take Iodine pills to slow the effects. Fury meets Gravik in the room with the Super Skrull machine, and it’s revealed that Gravik is using the face of the first man he ever killed under Fury’s orders, but he doesn’t mention a name. Fury then gives the Harvest vial to Gravik in exchange for rounding up his Skrulls and leaving Earth unharmed.

Meanwhile, Sonya (Olivia Colman) calls Rhodey in the hospital where Ritson is and informs him that there’s going to be an assassination attempt on the President’s life if they don’t move him to another floor. At this point, the viewers are confident that this is a ruse in order to separate Rhodey’s security from him. As the tension rises, we see Russian forces moving to the borders in preparation for Ritson’s retaliation.

Gravik uses the Harvest vial to upload the Avengers’ DNA onto the computer, including the powers of Captain Marvel, and enters the machine with Fury, who’s struggling to fight off the radiation symptoms. The machine ignites, and Gravik becomes endowed with the Avengers’ powers, but so does Fury as he blocks his punch. It’s then revealed that G’iah has been impersonating Fury the whole time at New Skrullos, and the pair enter into a fight.

Elsewhere, it’s revealed that Fury is actually at the hospital with Sonya, and the pair hold Rhodey and Ritson at gunpoint. With Sonya keeping Rhodey in check, Fury lowers his gun and explains how Rhodey has been a Skrull the whole time, and he’s making a mistake launching an attack on New Skrullos. The President is visibly confused, so Fury shoots Rhodey in the head, which triggers the imposter’s transformation back to the Skrull, Raava. This confirmation allows Ritson to call off the strike immediately.

Back at New Skrullos, G’iah, and Gravik flaunt their new powers, including Captain Marvel’s ability to fly, Ghost’s phasing, and Drax’s strength, until the former manages to blow a hole in Gravik’s chest, which kills him. Subsequently, G’iah is then able to free all the humans held under their will at the compound, while the Skrulls impersonate them, including Dr. Rosa Dalton, Rhodey, Agent Everett Ross, and many of the world leaders.

We then cut to Ritson, who’s ignited an all-out war against the Skrull invaders, and Sonya goes to meet G’iah, who now seems to be traveling aimlessly. Sonya offers her a partnership, saying, “I will use you, and you will use me,” which G’iah agrees to, and the pair leave together.

The final sequence sees Fury arranging his travel back to the S.A.B.E.R. space station until his wife, Priscilla, shows up. Fury asks Priscilla to come with him in order to help navigate a new peace treaty that’s emerged between the Kree and Skrulls, which is likely setting up a plot point in The Marvels. Priscilla agrees to aid him for a short time and proceeds to transform into her Skrull form, Varra, which Fury accepts.

Is G’iah Now The Strongest Character In The MCU?

Secret Invasion confirms that G’iah has been given the powers of Extremis, Flora Colossus, Frost Beast, Cull Obsidian, Ghost, Captain Marvel, Captain America, Winter Soldier, Thanos, Mantis, Corvus Glaive, Outrider, Proxima Midnight, Abomination, Ebony Maw, Korg, Drax, Hulk, Chitauri, Valkyrie, Gamora, and Thor Odinson, thanks to Gravik’s computer screen, but there’s likely more in there.

Obviously, the Harvest vial only contains the DNA of an Avenger that spilled blood during The Battle of Earth, so we can assume that G’iah also has the powers of Spider-Man and possibly the Sakaaran race since both of them definitely spilled blood. Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Wanda Maximoff are still up for debate, but if G’iah has the power of all these heroes and creatures, it certainly makes her a formidable foe in the MCU going forward.

It was previously settled within the Marvel fandom that Wanda Maximoff’s Scarlet Witch was likely the most powerful superhero in the MCU, as she had the capability to kill Thanos if she wanted, and we’ve also seen the extent of her power in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, would Wanda stand a chance against all the aforementioned superheroes and creatures combined? We think there’s a strong possibility G’iah just became Earth’s best defender, and perhaps Sonya Falsworth knows this already.
