Roblox to host ‘first of its kind’ virtual concert with Tai Verdes – Music Business Worldwide

Roblox has been making moves in the music industry for quite some time now.

The virtual gaming world, valued at an estimated $47bn, has brought the dance music festival Electric Daisy Carnival into its metaverse, secured funding from Warner Music Group, and has hosted virtual concerts with the likes of Twenty One Pilots.

Now, Roblox says it is hosting a “first of its kind” virtual experience.

Tai Verdes, who topped the Billboard Emerging Artist Chart with his latest single A-O-K, will perform the single Let’s go to Hell, as part of a four-song concert set in Roblox on November 13, beginning at 11am PT.

The ‘Tai Verdes Concert Experience’ was developed by Roblox studio, MELON, a developer on the platform responsible for multiple launch parties including Ava Max, Why Don’t We, Zara Larsson, and KSI.

Unlike previous Roblox launch party venues, however, where artists appeared on a video screen, Roblox says that Verdes will appear in an avatar form.

The exclusive space is open today (November 10), and Verdes will showcase a live Q&A after the first concert performance on Saturday morning.

The show will repeat each hour through Sunday, November 14, at 11pm PT.

Full concert details can also be found on the Tai Verdes event page.

“Tai Verdes is at the top of his game right now.”

Jon Vlassopulos, Vice President and Global Head of Music for Roblox, said: “Tai Verdes is at the top of his game right now and we are thrilled he’s performing his new single on Roblox.

“We thrive on artists’ creativity.”

Devon Thome, MELON

Devon Thome, MELON CEO, added: “We thrive on artists’ creativity and it inspires us to push the boundaries of what our proprietary technology and avatars can do.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with Roblox.”

Josh Neuman, MELON President, said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Roblox to help shape this new medium and re-imagine what music experiences can be.”
