Resident Evil 4 Remake: Ada Wong Actress Bullied Off Instagram Following Hateful Fan Reaction to Her Performance

The video game fandom can turn it up a notch when it comes to showering praise on their favourite titles. However, at the same time, it’s also true for the exact opposite, when fans of a beloved franchise have criticisms about new iterations and stories.

One such case has now taken place with the wildly successful Resident Evil 4 Remake. The remastered version of the iconic Capcom title has received several praises for its new and improved visuals and gameplay. However, some players have taken a disliking to some elements, especially the voice acting performance of Ada Wong.

Voiced by Lily Gao, Wong is an integral part of the game, as she was vital in Leon’s search for President Graham’s daughter, Ashley. And according to many fans of the series, the character severely lacked in performance.

It’s not the first time fans have had criticisms for poor acting performances in video games. However, fans of the series have taken a step too far, as they voiced their concerns in the comments section of Gao’s Instagram posts. Several of these posts featured hateful and distasteful comments, which eventually led to Gao deactivating comments on them.

However, that’s not all, as Gao has now hidden all but one post on her Instagram account. The situation sheds light on the toxic side of gaming that has hounded and harassed developers and actors from various projects.

Many members of the industry have since come in support of Gao and her work on the game. Check out some of the tweets in support of the Ada Wong actress:
