Meta – formerly Facebook – is rolling out a new software update to RayBan Stories smart glasses. The device is getting the ability to send and receive messages on Facebook Messenger. The smart glasses will also be able to make calls and control volume among other features with the update.
These new features were announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced via a Facebook post. He said that users will be able to use the glasses’ built-in microphones, speakers, and assistant to send messages via Facebook Messenger. He also added that the company will roll out more updates to the smart glasses in the coming year, 2022.
“Rolling out more hands-free features for Ray-Ban Stories like the ability to send messages, hear message readouts, and make calls (all via Messenger), and also control the volume or pause and resume audio, all using your voice. We’re just getting started, more updates to Ray-Ban Stories coming in 2022 ????,” Zuckerberg wrote in the post.
Facebook announced RayBan Stories in September this year. Coming with a starting price of $299 (approx. Rs 22,000), the smart glasses are currently available in 6 countries including the US, UK, Canada, Italy, Ireland and Australia.
RayBan Stories smart glasses are equipped with dual 5MP cameras on the front of the frames. The smart glasses also has a built-in Bluetooth and 3-microphone audio array to listen to favourite media, music and podcasts from any app on the smartphone. One can also take calls using the smart glass. When the cameras on the smart glass are on, a capture LED lights up to notify those around that photography or recording is taking place.
