Pirate Uploads the Complete Super Mario Bros. Movie and Avatar 2 on Twitter

The Super Mario Bros. Movie got posted in its entirety on Twitter, and more than 9 million people watched it within seven hours. It took hours before Twitter staff (or what’s left of it) took notice, and the video is now deleted and the user who uploaded it has been suspended from the social media platform.

However, a lot of damage has already been dealt. The video was getting 200,000 new views every few minutes it was up on the platform, as reported first by Forbes.

The video was uploaded by the Twitter account “vids that go hard” with 1.1 million followers. This user was a part of the Twitter Blue membership which is why they were able to upload the full movie.

Twitter Blue subscription allows users to upload lengthy videos in high definition. However, the bigger problem is Elon Musk’s Twitter staff couldn’t figure out that millions were watching one of the most popular movies of 2023 until hours later.

Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. Movie has just crossed the $1 billion mark at the box office. So, for this video to rack up 9 million views, that would surely not be appreciated by the movie makers, Universal and Nintendo at large.

The entire movie was uploaded in two parts by the user where the aspect ratio is a bit weird but the overall quality of the video was high.

Elon Musk did confirm he fired around 80% of the Twitter staff and it’s perhaps why the social media platform took seven hours to stop the piracy of the most commercially successful video game movie adaptation of all time.

And if it’s that not bad enough, Avatar 2 was also uploaded on Twitter by some user. Yikes.
