Watching The Office inside the Metaverse is now possible because Peacock has launched as an app for Meta Quest VR in the US. This is the first time the streaming service has ever been available on a VR headset, according to Meta.
Current Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro owners can receive three months free of Peacock Premium, as long as they’re not subscribing to the service right now. Meanwhile, new purchases of the VR headsets for the next year will come with a free year of Peacock Premium.
Meta adds that Quest owners can play other apps or browse the internet while watching shows like Parks and Recreation on Peacock. In addition to multitasking, viewing content in full theater mode is offered as well.
Peacock coming to the VR headsets is part of a three-year partnership between NBC Universal and Meta. In the future, Horizon Worlds will feature an experience based on The Office, for example.
Last month, Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro got big price cuts, with the latter seeing savings of $500. The Meta Quest 2 (256GB) unit saw $70 slashed off its price to retail for $430.
The Meta Quest 2 was selected as GameSpot’s best VR headset of 2023. The Pro, meanwhile, was recognized as best standalone high-end headset.
