PC vs Consoles: What games work better on each platform – Times of India

PC vs consoles has always been a bit of a divide amongst gamers. Both have their fair share of pros and cons and it fundamentally comes down to individual preferences. It’s hard to say which one is better than the other but there are games that work better on consoles and some which are more suited for PCs. For example, you might be able to play Call of Duty on an Xbox, but you can not play online games like online casinos with just a console. Here we list out games that are more suited to PCs as well as those that are best for consoles:
Games that work better on PCs:
Dragon Age
The Dragon age series is a dark fantasy RPG franchise that seems to be inspired by Dungeons & Dragons and is one of the most popular titles developed by BioWare. The franchise narrates an engaging story that is spread across years and every game comes with a different protagonist. The game is available for both PC and console, but it is a much better experience when you play the game on the former platform. This game was developed to play with a mouse and keyboard and even the graphics look better on the PC. The controls of this game on a console gamepad are very tiresome and the strategic elements of the gameplay don’t come out well on the console.
Divinity: Original Sin 2
Divinity: Original Sin 2 touts to be one of the best RPG games ever made which comes with a good story, interesting characters and great gameplay. Every RPG fan must play this game at least once and it will be preferable to play the same on a PC
This game was initially available only on PC when it was released, but later on, it made a leap towards the consoles. Users can enjoy this game on the console but it was clearly made to be played on PC as it feels better to use a mouse and keyboard for combat control and to access hotkeys.
Elder Scrolls
As we all know that PC games have better graphics and The Elder Scroll is one of those games that certainly looks better on a PC. The biggest reason for this is the mods that are available only on PC.
There are several fan-created mods that are available for these games. These mods can improve the graphics, fix various bugs, add in armour and weapons and can even add more quests. Although the console versions of Skyrim Special Edition allow mods, it’s very limited compared to what is available on a PC.
Team Fortress 2
Team Fortress 2 is a wildly fun class-based shooter game developed by Valve and some claim that this game is the forefather of all the class-based and battle royale games we play today. The PC version offers a lot more than the console versions. Moreover, it is a free to play game on PCs, while it is not the same situation for consoles and the hats are only available on PC version.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is certainly one of the best games of the decade and it has gained a lot of traction for the Netflix show. The game runs great on both PC and consoles, but the PC version gives you a better experience as it’s graphically more capable. The world of Witcher is lush and dense and consoles can fail to handle it while on a PC gamers can enjoy the scenery without having to worry
Games that work better in consoles:
Call of Duty
Call of Duty is a first-person shooter franchise that revolves around war and has been popular among gamers for a long time. Initially, it used to focus only on World War II, since then the franchise has also released games with a backdrop of the Cold War, modern times, futuristic times, and even space. PCs can always give you better graphics and you can also use the mouse for more precise aiming, but consoles are the only platform where you can play the game in multiplayer mode.
Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat’s reputation for being gruesome and its over-the-top violence has made it the most successful fighting game franchise in the history of video games as well as the most successful franchises in any medium.
This game needs players to memorise the lists of combo attacks to be able to play better and this is something consoles have an advantage over the PCs. It’s much easier to memorise and execute the directional movements and the button presses that these combos need.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a Western game developed by Rockstar and has also been acclaimed as one of the best games released in the last decade. This game was only available on consoles at the beginning, but recently the game has made its way to PC users as well.
The game suffered several setbacks when it was launched for PCs as players reported a number of issues like the game crashing and some were unable to even download it. Those problems have been addressed, but there are still some remaining issues to be fixed, so it is better to play the console version of this game.
Soulsborne Series
The Soulsborne series consists of three games — Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Demon’s Souls have become popular for their challenging but rewarding difficulty. The game is better played on consoles as all three parts of the game are not available for PCs and are console exclusives. The Bloodborne and Demon’s Souls are the two parts that are available only on Playstation 4 and Playstation 3, respectively. PC gamers will miss out on a whole lot if they omit playing these two parts.
NieR: Automata
NieR: Automata is the most unique game on this list, considering you have to defeat the game twice before the real story starts. While this game is available on both PCs and consoles, it is advisable to play the same on a console. This game also suffered multiple reports from users as the game frequently crashed or completely froze and the resolution was also not up to the mark with some PC users.
