Over 2239 students get full marks in Karnataka II PU exam – Times of India

However, the percentage of students who secured distinction this year has decreased when compared to last year. While 17% students of those who passed had secured distinction last year, only 14% who passed secured it this time. The number of students who secured second class has gone up by 3% this time.

The II PU exam was cancelled this time because of the pandemic. A 12 membered technical committee was formed to fix a formula. It was later decided to give 45% marks to SSLC marks 45% to I PU and 10% to the internal assessment of II PU. A 5% grace marks was also given to those who were given pass marks.

“Unlike SSLC, II PU has as many as 38 subjects which has to be held. Therefore, we were not able to conduct it. However, if any student is unhappy with the marks, they can write the exam from August 19 to September 3 without paying exam fees. However, students cannot switch back to this marks then,” said S Suresh Kumar, minister for primary and secondary education, announcing the results on Tuesday.

A total of 6,66,497 students had registered for the exam. Of this, 95,628 students secured distinction, 3,55,078 secured first class, 147055 second class and 68729 pass class. The pass class 62548 are repeaters. Dakshina Kannada had the students with the largest number of top scorers (445 students), followed by Bengaluru South (302), Bengaluru North (261), Udupi (149) and Hassan (104).

Interestingly, boys got more distinction (60085 as against 35543 girls) and first class (191971 as against 163107 girls). While 22% of the English medium students secured distinction, 4% of their counterparts in Kannada medium secured above 85%. 30% of the Science stream students got distinction, 8% in Commerce and 3% in Arts got distinction. 1929 students in Science got full marks.

“While the number of students who have got promoted has increased, we have already spoken to the department of collegiate education and the higher education minister to increase the number of seats in colleges in government degree colleges to accommodate everyone,” said Suresh Kumar.
