On International Plastic Bag Free Day today, TV actors urge citizens to go plastic-free

Concrete action
Sanjay Gagnani

I believe a lot has been said around the need for eliminating the use of plastic, but the results have not been up to the mark. We can work towards replacing plastic products with those made out of cloth, bamboo or even recycled paper. With just this one step, a lot of damage can be prevented and any kind of harm towards animals can also be reduced.

Preserve nature
Sehban Azim

Plastic bags are not only harmful for our health, but also to the health of our environment. They are a nuisance to our marine life as well as our wildlife. I feel it is high time we realise that our actions can really lead to major consequences, especially if we do not start taking certain steps to preserve nature.

Find alternatives
Vaidika Senjaliya

I feel celebrating one day as Plastic Bag Free Day will not change the age-old problem that we have been unknowingly creating for years. Serious action needs to be taken on a regular basis and we must find an alternative. At least the ones who are conscious should raise their voices and try to find ways to stop the use of plastic.

Big hazard
Adhvik Mahajan

Time and again, our government has taken several attempts to put a ban on the use of plastic, but here we are repeating same old habits. It is imperative that we understand how hazardous plastic is and take precautionary measures to reduce its use. I feel celebrating Plastic Bag Free Day will only hold meaning when we actually start boycotting these products.

Use cloth
Sapna Thakur

An easier substitute to plastic bags would be cloth bags that can be reused over time. Whenever we go out shopping or purchase groceries from a store, we must carry our cloth bags so that plastic as an option can be eliminated completely. A wiser option for the current plastic products would be to recycle them on a regular basis to avoid any kind of unethical disposal and damage to the environment.

Usher change
Pooja Banerjee

Over the years, we’ve seen multiple campaigns, drives and government guidelines banning the use of plastic bags. But I still see people asking for it at supermarkets, malls and grocery stores. Not just the usage, the disposal of plastic bags is also not regulated. We have to take this seriously.
