Netflix Announces Exploding Kitten Mobile Game and Animated Series Featuring Tom Ellis and Lucy Liu

Streaming platform Netflix recently announced its plans to develop a new animated series and mobile video game, based on the popular card game, Exploding Kittens.

The game has long been on the library of party game enthusiasts, and players can experience its silliness by installing a version of it, which is currently available on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. However, with Netflix’s new video game, players will be able to access new exclusive cards at launch, with more cards and game mechanics based on the animated series set to arrive in the future.

Along with a mobile video game, the streaming platform is also looking to expand with an animated series. The TV show will feature stars like Lucifer’s Tom Ellis and Lucy Liu of Kill Bill and Elementary fame. Other than that, the cast will also include Abraham Lim, Ally Maki, Mark Proksch and Sasheer Zamata.

According to the synopsis provided by Netflix, Exploding Kittens will follow the eternal conflict between heaven and hell as it reaches epic proportions when both God and the devil are sent to Earth — in the bodies of chunky house cats. The show will be developed by the original creators of Exploding Kittens in Elan Lee and The Oatmeal founder Matt Inman.

While fans will have to wait until 2023 to watch the animated series, the mobile video game will arrive next month for players to enjoy.
