Net-a-Porter’s market director on the biggest fashion mistake people make

What’s your fragrance of choice? I chop and change but at the moment I’m wearing “Bal d’Afrique” by Byredo. I love a woody scent and this feels fresh and feminine as well.

Any go-to jewellery? An Hermès “Heure H” watch. I love that I can change the strap – I have black, white and tan – depending on the season. Also, a gold ring colleagues gave me for my 30th birthday.

Can you remember a favourite outfit from when you were a child? When I was about seven it was a puffed-sleeved blouse with a little lace collar, not too dissimilar to the shirts you see now.

What was your first fashion moment? Probably buying the first designer piece that felt true to my style. I was about 20 and still discovering my style when I purchased a Phillip Lim “31 Minute” clutch bag which, back in the day, was everywhere.

And your worst fashion mistake? Generally, the worst thing you can do is wear something you don’t feel comfortable in. Over the years I’ve worn numerous things I didn’t feel myself in, whether it was heels that were too high or something far too tight.

What’s on your wish list? At the top is a pave diamond signet ring by Jade Trau. Also on the Net-a-Porter site I’m coveting classic Gucci loafers with a square toe that feel a bit vintage-y.

Is there something you’d never wear? Anything too short, too tight or too pink. I would not wear a hot-pink minidress.

Is there a current trend you like? I love tailoring and I love how a suit is not just a blazer and a pant any more; it can be a wide-leg pant with a vest, like the one by Beare Park that I wore to AAFW.

What shoes do you wear the most? My “Ginza” sandals and white New Balance “550″ sneakers.

What do you sleep in? Black-and-white-striped silk pyjamas from Olivia von Halle.

Who is your favourite fashion icon? I know I sound like a The Row fangirl, but the Olsen sisters have exceptional style; it’s quite masculine, relaxed and cool but often unexpected. If I ever find myself confused about a purchase, I’m like, “Is this something that Mary-Kate and Ashley would wear?”

What do you wear on a typical working day? A Totême suit with a T-shirt and sneakers.

What’s your favourite casual Sunday look? Girlfriend Collective black leggings with a hoodie, chunky socks, sneakers and an oversized blazer.
