Naagin star Anita Hassanandani’s ethnic red kaftan is our new fashion favourite

While kaftan’s were a go-to ensemble during her pregnancy to hide that baby bump, television hottie Anita Hassanandani’s latest party look in an ethnic red kaftan is our new fashion favourite. Burning the oomph game, the Naagin star gave a party twist to lockdown fashion in the ethnic red and golden kaftan for a wedding in Jaipur and we are smitten.

Taking to her social media handle, Anita shared a slew of pictures that showed her putting her sartorial foot forward as she dolled up for the traditional event. The pictures featured the actor donning a floor-length kaftan that came in dark red base and sported an intricately embroidered golden yoke along with intricately embroidered golden borders to enhance the rich look.

Sporting a V-neckline, the kaftan was cinched at the waist but enough to cut a feminine yet comfy silhouette with a drawstring at the neckline. Leaving her luscious tresses open down and swept on one side, Anita completed her attire with a pair of golden breeches.

She accessorised her look with a golden potli, a pair of Kundan blue drop earrings from ShopViolla and a bracelet. Wearing a dab of pink lipstick, Anita amplified the glam quotient with highlighted cheeks, mascara-laden eyelashes and filled-in eyebrows.

Striking elegant poses for the camera, Anita set the Internet on fire. She captioned the pictures, “Can never go wrong with a Kaftan (sic)” and we totally agree.

The ensemble is credited to Indian fashion designer Pam Mehta’s shopping and retail brand, Kisneel by Pam, that boasts of latest trends in bridal fashion and Indian couture. Anita Hassanandani was styled by celebrity stylists Shreya Juneja and Sohini Dasgupta.

Kaftans were worn by the Ottoman sultans and later popularised by French fashion designer Paul Poiret in the 20th century. From street styles to hippie fashion, kaftans journeyed in mainstream western fashion and were soon adopted as a lavish ensemble or hostess gowns for casual at-home entertaining.

Made of cotton, cashmere, wool or silk, kaftans are now included as a part of summer season lines, staple for tropical holiday-wear and their trendy colour palettes have extended their style genre to even modern and luxury resortwear. Comfort mixed with glamour has been the style quotient for fashionistas ever since the Covid-19 lockdown pushed everyone to work and play from the confines of their home and that is when kaftan trend kicked up more than ever as their easy-breezy boho-chic style along with glamorous vibes ensure that the wearer slays effortlessly.
